Mission

KINO (International Independent Film Festival of Athens) focuses on unusual films which challenge their viewers. We believe in the power of films to inspire change within our society. KINO believes that independent filmmaking is vital to galvanize communal discourse and is committed to curating equitable and inclusive programs for all. Via screenings, Q&As, talks, exhibitions, KINO intents to enhance dialogue, promote learning and create a community based on cinema.  KINO's program will centre on daring filmmaking that embraces fearless artistic crossover works. We constantly look for fresh films, visual innovations, daring experimentation and new approaches to the visual arts. KINO supports freedom enhancing cinema and new methods of visual artistic creation. We commit ourselves to staying free and open to continuous discovery. 

Vision

KINO through its visionary programming intents to enhance independent filmmaking with all year round activities. KINO Athens Film Society will establish a weekly gathering in Athens for film lovers who seek to be challenged by cinema.

Submissions

The International Independent Film Festival of Athens, KINO Athens accepts films through out the year from every genre, every subject and every place. We encourage independent filmmaking and daring, crossover works.

+ KINO Athens organizes the International Independent Film Festival of Athens and accepts submissions for the initiative.

​

+ FILM ENTRY FOR KINOATHENS 2025 IS NOW OPEN!

​

​

+ No premiere request. We do not disqualify any films based on premiere status.

​

+ No limitation, everyone can apply.

​​​

In order to complete the submission, the payment is required according to the deadlines:

The entry fees are applied to each submitted film.

Keep in mind KINO Athens program is mainly formed by INVITATIONS.

How to Submit

+ To complete the submission the Festival requires a preview copy of the film with english subtitles with the exception of English and Greek spoken films.

​

+ The preview copy should be uploaded to a secured streaming platform, such as Vimeo. The URL and password should be submitted through the online entry form of the festival. The preview link should be private, downloadable and available up until the end of January 31st 2025. 

​

+ Once submitted, the preview copy will only be shared within the programming team of the festival for the purpose of deciding if and/or it will be presented.

​

 

+ Submissions must be completed online via:

+ Incomplete and/or late submissions will not be taken into consideration.

 

+ If selected the programming department will sent an official invitation to participate. 

 

+ The Festival is under no obligation to communicate the reasoning behind its choices with regard to films that are not selected.

​​​Shipping Details​

​

The shipping costs of materials submitted to the festival for selection purposes are covered by KINO. All materials must be delivered on time for testing purposes.

International Independent Film Festival of Athens, KINO Athens 2025 will take place from 1st to 9th of March 2025 at Technopolis City of Athens, Serafio Center, The French Institute of Athens & Michael Cacoyannis Foundation.
