FOCUS: GREC PRODUCTION HOUSE
The GREC (Group for Cinematic Research and Experimentation) Arthur Ganem is a non-profit organization founded in 1969 by film professionals with the support of the French National Centre of Cinema (CNC) to produce first short films. Each year, the GREC produces around 20 first short films (fictions, documentaries, experimental…). Projects are chosen by professionals (directors, editors, producers…), and they can be selected upon script, or excerpts of film footage. Each project can be granted from 5000 to 19000€.
The GREC supports directors at all stages of production : from writing to shooting, post-production and distribution. The films are super-vised by professionals throughout the film making, always respecting each director’s artistic choice. Since fifteen years, the GREC has also been running workshops/residencies of script writing, casting, directing actors and editing, in order to concretely consider the stages of filmmaking. The GREC has produced nearly 1,300 short films, including many of today’s recognized directors. The films are programmed throughout the year, broadcasted online or on TV, and in partner theaters or institutions, selected and awarded in international film festivals.
